My thought for today as I was feeling tired, short on time, under pressure from an impending work deadline, and in the middle of dealing with a toddler tantrum was, “how on earth am I going to fit in a gym session, let alone find the energy?
Most of us have been in this type of situation, in some form or another.
Not having enough time and work commitments are the most common excuses for not exercising. What will get one person off their butt and into (gym) gear will be different for another. For me, on these days, I go easy on myself. I do what I can, with what I have available both in terms of equipment and time. I will always ‘DO’ something though. I KNOW how great I’ll feel once I get going and how much calmer and happier I will feel afterwards. I focus on that and then it’s just a question of what CAN I do with what I have.
Today I’ll do a 30 min Tabata-style weights session in the garage straight after I’ve put my little girl to bed and this afternoon I’ve planned an activity with her outside in the park where she and I can run around, do some pull ups, jump, squat, slide, climb and so on. She loves it, we get to spend time together and I get moving!
So next time you feel a bit like I do today, try to find your own answer - what could you do today to move you even just a little bit closer to your goal?
